The Ghana Agriculture and Rural Development Journalists Association (GARDJA) has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians on Tuesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

In a heartfelt statement signed by its President, Richmond Frimpong, GARDJA described the incident as a national tragedy and a profound loss to Ghana’s ongoing efforts in environmental protection, rural development, and agricultural advancement.

“As journalists who cover the nation’s environment, agriculture, and rural livelihoods, we recognize the critical roles these individuals played,” the statement noted. “Some were reportedly on assignments vital to protecting Ghana’s forests, lands, and rural stability — work that often goes unrecognized but remains essential to the nation’s future.”

GARDJA emphasized that the deceased served “quietly but powerfully” in defense of causes crucial to Ghana’s sustainability, and their loss resonates deeply with journalists committed to highlighting such national efforts.

The association extended its condolences to the bereaved families, the military, the government institutions the victims served, and the entire nation. It further pledged to honour their memory by continuing to spotlight the sacrifices made in service to environmental and rural development.

“May their souls rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
