The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Dr. Kingsley Agyeman, has taken a significant step to enhance education in his constituency by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester, United Kingdom.
The agreement, signed yesterday in the presence of the Municipal Director of Education, establishes a framework for collaboration between DMU and educational institutions within Abuakwa South. It focuses on providing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and postgraduate programmes, as well as promoting research partnerships with tertiary institutions in the area.
Dr. Agyeman described the partnership as a “transformational opportunity” that will not only boost academic performance but also provide students and teachers with access to world-class training, knowledge exchange, and international exposure.
“This MoU signals our commitment to global partnerships that directly benefit our youth and educators. It brings the world closer to Abuakwa South,” he stated.
Representatives from DMU highlighted the university’s strong interest in building long-term educational ties with Ghana and expressed optimism about the potential for impactful research and training outcomes through the collaboration.
The initiative is expected to open doors for capacity-building programmes, joint academic projects, and scholarships that can uplift the quality of education across the municipality.
The MoU is a milestone in UK-Ghana educational cooperation, and a clear testament to the MP’s dedication to securing better futures for the students in his constituency.
