For far too long, we have been taken for granted. Many of our elders/leaders may think we are underemployed or unemployed because we are either lazy or lack an entrepreneurial mindset. They ignore the fact that we have been blessed with the skill of navigating the Ghanaian system with little to no support. Living in Ghana requires a skill set. We have successfully navigated this poor state, and we must be proud of ourselves.

The 2024 election is about our future. So the question to us is, how do you and I vote wisely to help build the Ghana we want?

We have four leading candidates in this election: Mr. John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Mahamudu  Bawumia, Mr. Alan Kyeremateng, and Nana Kwame Bediako.
Three out of these 4 candidates have promised an industrial Ghana- Mahama (more industries + 24-hour economy), Alan (more industries), and Cheddar (more industries) have all stated that this is the time for Ghana to industrialize. Dr. Bawumia, on the other hand, is promising digitalization through the creation of apps.

We all do have friends and family members (or at least know people) who are working in some industrialized/developed countries with 24-hour economies. We have heard our friends and families in the diaspora talk about their day/afternoon/night shifts. It gives them the flexibility to work a second job after their shifts or pursue other passions. This is how many friends and family members are living comfortably in the UK, USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, South Africa, Russia, Italy etc.
This is the same 24-economy John Mahama is promising the Youth of Ghana. An economy with jobs for the youth- flexible jobs that put money in the pockets of ordinary citizens. Alan Kyeremanteng and Cheddar certainly agree with John Mahama on an industrial Ghana.

We have seen Dr. Bawumia in the last 7 years as Vice President, as the person in charge of our economy. We have seen and know his record as Head of the Economic Management Team- depreciating cedi (worst performing currency), higher inflation, higher interest rates, DDEP, etc.
Let me caution you all: do not be deceived by Dr. Bawumia’s momentary good behavior. Dr. Bawumia is only a spoiled child (incompetent Vice President and Head of the Economic Management Team) who has mismanaged our economy and is somehow hoping to still have a delicious dessert (hopes of being elevated to the highest office of the Presidency). We cannot afford to reward incompetence.

Between now and December 7, they will try everything to persuade us to get our votes! But, we must by all means reject them and their coercion. You and I must do everything we can (by all means vote) to defeat the retrograde forces that have invaded our beloved country. We have witnessed high levels of corruption, gross incompetence, dictatorial tendencies, failed promises, and selfishness.

In conclusion, my fellow youth, we no longer have the luxury of neutrality! Please vote wisely on December 7, 2024. Vote for John Dramani Mahama to nobly save our country.

Ramsey Apau Bediako.
