Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, has expressed profound gratitude to President-Elect John Dramani Mahama, the National Executives, and the Parliamentary Leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the honor of nominating him for a second term as Speaker of the 9th Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
In a heartfelt statement, Mr. Bagbin described the nomination as both a privilege and a significant responsibility, one he does not take lightly. He pledged to uphold the principles of justice, fairness, and respect for the rule of law while ensuring that Parliament operates with integrity, transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness.
“I am deeply humbled by His Excellency’s confidence in my ability to lead the august House as we begin a new chapter in our nation’s democratic journey,” he stated.
Reflecting on his years of service, Mr. Bagbin reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening Ghana’s democratic institutions and ensuring Parliament remains responsive to the needs of citizens.
