Nutrifoods Ghana Limited has announced an immediate recall of specific batches of its popular Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix following reports of bloating in both pouches and cans. The recall, prompted by directives from the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and National Security, affects various product sizes and batch numbers.

In a public notice issued by the company, consumers are urged not to consume any Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix in 210g and 400g cans, as well as 380g and 1.05kg pouches with specified batch numbers. These can be identified by checking the batch codes on the back of the packaging.

Consumers with affected products are advised to return them to Nutrifoods’ Tema office or any of their distributors nationwide. The company has also provided a dedicated helpline (050 538 4429) and email (tastytom.ghg@olamnet.com) for assistance during weekdays from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

The FDA had already suspended production on the canning lines for 210g and 400g packs in January 2025, and Nutrifoods has now halted all manufacturing activities to fully comply with regulatory inspections and safety standards.

“We deeply regret any inconvenience caused to our consumers and trade partners. We are working closely with the FDA to ensure this recall is conducted effectively,” said Jay Jagadip Anjaria, Business Head of Nutrifoods Ghana Ltd.

The company reassured the public of its commitment to food safety and quality, promising to recover and replace all affected products with minimal disruption.
