The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has acknowledged a statement by the Ghana Police Service concerning a fatal shooting incident at a mining site in Adclekezu in the Western Region.
In a brief statement, the Ministry expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and sympathised with residents of the affected community, describing the incident as unfortunate and deeply troubling.
The Ministry noted that the Ghana Police Service is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and emphasised its respect for the independence of the ongoing investigations. It therefore urged all stakeholders, including community members and mining operators, to remain calm and fully cooperate with the security agencies to ensure that due process is followed.
Reaffirming its mandate, the Ministry reiterated its commitment to lawful and responsible mining, the safety of communities, and the promotion of peaceful coexistence between mining companies and their host communities.
The Ministry added that any further action or engagement on the matter would be strictly guided by the outcome of the official police investigations.
