As part of measures in finding a lasting solution to the land dispute between the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and La Traditional Council around Burma Camp, the Traditional Council has decided to give dialogue a chance to ensure amicable settlement for peace to prevail.

This was made known to the press after the cancelation of a press conference scheduled in connection with the land in dispute.

Speaking to the press, Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, La Shikiteli stated, “As listening Chiefs, we have decided to give dialogue a chance. That doesn’t mean we considered anything that was contained on the press release that we wanted to address, and we have accepted it”.

The fact he indicated, still stands that the land in question with the subject matter of the issue duly belongs to LA Stool added that, all the necessary documents concerning the land in question have been executed. “After our meeting with the stakeholders, we will come out with the fact”.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has debunked claims of releasing part of the Burma Camp land to the La Traditional Council.

This followed media reports in which the La Traditional Council claimed that the government has released about 114 acres of land to them.

However, GAF in a statement issued, acknowledged that although there were ongoing discussions by a committee set up by the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources to deliberate and recommend possible measures to resolve the land issue, yet GAF had not received any directives from the Ministry of Defence to release the said land to the La Traditional Council.

According to GAF, no government agency has directed the release of land to the Traditional Authority and therefore, those lands remain a critical need of the Ghana Armed Forces for the preservation of State security.
