The leadership of Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has dismissed as false allegations circulating on social media that former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, was shot during an incident at the church’s property in Kwabenya on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
In a statement issued by the church, the leadership claimed that following a lawful church event, Adwoa Safo allegedly drove her vehicle forcefully into the entrance gates of the church premises, damaging two metallic gates.
According to the statement, the incident occurred while worshippers and invited guests were still on the premises, with some seated close to the entrance. The church said the alleged actions posed a serious threat to the lives of those present and could have resulted in severe injuries had the gates collapsed or the vehicle entered the compound.
The church further stated that its security personnel intervened solely to prevent further escalation and ensure the safety of attendees.
Addressing reports that Adwoa Safo was shot during the incident, the leadership described the allegations as “false and misleading,” insisting that, based on the information available to the church, no shooting occurred.
The statement also questioned what it described as an apparent attempt to portray Adwoa Safo as a gunshot victim and urged the public to disregard unverified social media reports.
The Kristo Asafo Mission called on the relevant state authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident to establish the facts.
The church reaffirmed its commitment to peace, the rule of law, truth, and the safety of all persons attending its programmes.
