Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has assured residents of the Greater Accra Metropolis of improved water supply in the lead-up to the Christmas and New Year festivities, following recent supply challenges experienced in some communities.
In a press release dated December 21, 2025, the management of GWL acknowledged public concerns over intermittent water flow and announced that corrective measures are actively underway to stabilize production and distribution.
As part of preparations for the festive season and in response to increased demand during the dry season, the company has deployed technical teams and logistics to intensify maintenance works across its treatment plants. These interventions, according to GWL, are aimed at improving water flow and ensuring equitable distribution across affected areas.
The company stated that, barring any unforeseen technical challenges, customers should expect a gradual improvement in water supply over the coming days.
To promote transparency and effective customer engagement, GWL encouraged the public to rely on official updates shared through its social media platforms, including Water Demand Management Programme (WDMP) schedules, which outline supply timelines for various communities to ensure fair allocation of limited water resources.
Managing Director of Ghana Water Ltd, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, reassured customers of management’s commitment to resolving the situation.
“We understand the inconvenience the recent supply interruptions have caused, especially as families prepare for the festive holidays. Our teams are working tirelessly to stabilize the system and improve water flow to all affected communities,” he said, while urging customers to remain patient and conserve water.
GWL also appealed to the public to use water responsibly by fixing leakages, storing water safely, limiting non-essential use, reusing water where possible, and reporting illegal connections or burst pipes for prompt response.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to delivering safe, reliable and uninterrupted potable water nationwide and called for public cooperation to ensure a smooth and enjoyable festive season.
