Popular broadcaster and parliamentary hopeful, Captain Blessed Godsbrain Smart, has ignited what many residents are describing as a new era of community development in Gomoaland after rolling out a series of high-impact social intervention projects aimed at improving healthcare, public services and digital connectivity.
In the latest of his initiatives, Captain Smart on Sunday, July 19, 2026, cut the sod for the construction of a modern community clinic for the people of Gomoa Mozano, marking what residents say is a major breakthrough in access to quality healthcare.
The Mozano clinic forms part of a broader healthcare initiative under which additional community clinics are expected to be constructed in Gomoa Mankessim and Gomoa Abamkrom, bringing much-needed medical services closer to thousands of residents who have long struggled to access healthcare.
The project comes barely a day after another landmark event in the constituency. On Saturday, July 18, 2026, Captain Smart performed the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the first-ever Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) office in Gomoaland.
For decades, motorists and commercial drivers in the area have had to travel long distances to access DVLA services, often spending valuable time and money to register vehicles, renew licences or complete other official transactions. The planned office is expected to eliminate these challenges while boosting economic activity in the area.
Beyond infrastructure, Captain Smart has also embarked on a number of people-centred social interventions.
He recently organised a free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal exercise, enabling hundreds of residents, particularly the elderly, women and vulnerable groups, to enrol or renew their health insurance without financial burden.
Beneficiaries praised the initiative, describing it as timely and life-changing at a period when many families are grappling with rising living costs.
In another groundbreaking intervention, Captain Smart has launched a free community Wi-Fi project aimed at expanding digital access across Gomoa communities.
According to officials coordinating the initiative, **Phase One has been successfully completed**, allowing residents, students, traders and young entrepreneurs to enjoy free internet connectivity in selected locations.
The project is expected to bridge the digital divide, promote online learning, support small businesses and improve access to information and digital opportunities.
Residents have welcomed the interventions with excitement, describing them as practical solutions to longstanding developmental challenges facing the constituency.
Community members believe the combination of healthcare infrastructure, improved public services, digital inclusion and social welfare initiatives has the potential to transform livelihoods and accelerate local development.
Traditional leaders and opinion leaders who attended the various ceremonies commended Captain Smart for translating promises into action, urging other development partners to support initiatives that directly improve the welfare of ordinary citizens.
With clinics, a modern DVLA office, free NHIS registration and community-wide internet connectivity all taking shape within days, many residents say Gomoaland is witnessing one of its most ambitious grassroots development drives in recent years, raising hopes for a brighter and more connected future.
