The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has conducted a surprise inspection visit to the Madina Polyclinic as part of efforts to enforce professionalism, improve patient safety and strengthen security measures across health facilities in the country.
The unannounced visit came shortly after the Minister commissioned a container-based health post at the Madina Market. During the inspection, Hon. Akandoh toured various departments of the facility to assess compliance with directives issued by the Ministry of Health.
Addressing health workers, the Minister underscored the importance of wearing name tags while on duty, describing the directive as essential in identifying authorised health personnel within healthcare facilities.
According to him, the measure had become necessary following reports of individuals disguising themselves as health professionals to gain access to hospitals and engage in criminal activities, including theft and alleged baby abductions.
Hon. Akandoh also inspected the facility’s CCTV surveillance system and directed management to ensure that all cameras remain fully operational at all times. He further instructed that the monitoring centre be manned around the clock to enable the early detection and prevention of security threats.
The Minister additionally called on health workers to improve their relationship with patients, citing growing public concerns over poor staff attitude and service delivery in some health facilities across the country.
As part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery at the Madina Polyclinic, Hon. Akandoh directed the immediate provision of beds and other essential logistics under the government’s free primary healthcare initiative to support the facility’s operations and enhance patient care.
