Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with renowned U.S. creatives to establish Africa’s largest film academy in his constituency. The initiative is in collaboration with Dr. Marie Lemelle, a celebrated philanthropist, and Dr. Hassan Rasheed, a Hollywood actor known for his role as a king’s guard in the blockbuster movie Black Panther.
The proposed academy, envisioned as a cutting-edge film and creative arts institution, will provide training in areas such as costuming, sound production, and video engineering. It is expected to boost youth employment, nurture local creative talent, and position Ghana as a key player in the global film industry.
The delegation visited the Ofori Panin Palace during their tour, a gesture that symbolized cultural reconnection and underscored the importance of diaspora engagement in African development.
Dr. Agyemang described the partnership as transformative, pledging his unwavering support to fast-track the project. He emphasized the strategic location of Abuakwa South and its potential to become an economic and creative hub.
Dr. Lemelle and Dr. Rasheed, reaffirming their commitment, called on members of the African diaspora to rally behind such initiatives that fuel sustainable growth and talent development on the continent.
