Tensions are escalating within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Abuakwa North Constituency as a group calling itself the Concerned Youth of the NPP has petitioned the party’s Eastern Regional and National Executives over what it describes as unfair and unprocedural actions affecting the constituency’s grassroots leadership.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the group expressed deep concern over the alleged removal of four polling station executives—Oye Florence, Robert Bafoor Kofi, Baah Harrison, and Stella Kwakye. The youth alleged that the decision was orchestrated by the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Hon. Nana Kwame Addo Frimpong, popularly known as Chief Buffalo, in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Chairman and the Regional Secretary.
According to the statement, the allegations against the affected executives date back to 2024. The group contended that no objections were raised at the time and that all four individuals were allowed to participate in the party’s recent presidential primary. They questioned why action was taken nearly two years later, describing the move as politically motivated, “diabolic,” and detrimental to party unity.
The Concerned Youth further questioned the decision-making process, claiming that although the Constituency Executive Committee submitted its official response to the Regional Executive Committee, there is uncertainty over whether the regional leadership properly deliberated on the matter before the executives were removed.
The statement also raised concerns about alleged irregularities involving the party’s duplicate membership album. According to the group, several names that had previously been validated by the National IT Team in the presence of the Constituency Chairman, the Deputy Secretary, and National IT officer Mr. Blankson have allegedly been deleted. They further alleged that Mr. Otuo-Serebour and the Eastern Regional Deputy Nasara Organizer, Mr. Zukaren Shaibu, may have played roles in the process.
The group is demanding the immediate reinstatement of the four polling station executives by the close of business on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. It also called on Mr. Blankson and the National IT Team to investigate the alleged alterations to the duplicate album and restore any legitimately validated names that may have been removed.
The Concerned Youth warned that failure to address the issues could affect their participation in the constituency elections scheduled for Saturday. However, they emphasized their preference for a peaceful and lawful resolution through dialogue.
Reaffirming their loyalty to the NPP, the group said it remains committed to the party’s core values of due process, transparency, fairness, and unity. It appealed to the Member of Parliament, the Regional Chairman, the Regional Secretary, and the National Executives to intervene promptly and resolve the impasse in the interest of party cohesion.
The statement was jointly signed by Eric Ofori, Wilson Atuahene, Samuel Ofori Pabby, and Comfort Owusuaa.
