The Eastern Regional constituency chairmen of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have filed nomination forms on behalf of Alhaji Awal Moro to contest the position of Regional Vice-Chairman.
The forms were submitted by Mr Richard Afasi Dzipha, Suhum Constituency Chairman, accompanied by a procession of enthusiastic Constituency Chairmen who demonstrated their support for Mr. Moro’s candidature.
The campaign, which focuses on increasing the party’s parliamentary seats and votes, seeks to assure delegates of Mr. Moro’s commitment to strengthening the party’s electoral fortunes ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Chairman Afasi Dzipha said Mr Moro’s extensive political experience and strategic insight, including his role in winning the Akwatia Constituency for the NDC, positioned him to help the party secure more parliamentary seats across the Eastern Region.
He said Alhaji Awal Moro would use his experience to translate the party’s political strength into electoral victories by focusing on his core mandate, strengthening relationships with constituency executives and polling station officers, and building stronger connections with grassroots supporters.
Addressing the media, Chairman Afasi expressed confidence that Mr Moro’s political experience would strengthen the party’s regional structures, reconnect its leadership with the grassroots and consolidate its gains ahead of the 2028 elections and beyond.
He said Awal Moro’s decision to contest the vice-chairmanship was not motivated by personal recognition or status but by conviction, sacrifice and a commitment to service.
According to him, Mr Moro’s ambition was to consolidate the party’s existing gains, protect its legacy and position it for electoral success in 2028 and beyond.
Chairman Afasi further emphasised the importance of using historical election results to guide campaign planning and resource allocation, with particular attention to constituencies where the party faced strong competition.
He said such a strategy would enable the party to deploy its resources more effectively and improve its chances of securing additional parliamentary seats in Eastern Region.
