The Ghana Water Ltd. (GWL) has announced a temporary interruption in water supply to parts of the North-Eastern corridor of Accra following a fire outbreak at the Dodowa Booster Station.
According to management, the incident forced an immediate shutdown of operations at the facility to allow for comprehensive repair works. Engineers are currently on site working around the clock to restore the system to full functionality.
The Dodowa Booster Station serves several major communities, and as a result of the shutdown, residents in East Legon, Agbogba, Haatso, Atomic, Frafraha, Ashaley Botwe, Adjiringanor, Ashongman, Dome, Adenta, Madina, Oyarifa and surrounding areas will experience low water pressure or no flow.
GWL expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the unforeseen development and assured the public that every effort is being made to rectify the fault in the shortest possible time. Meanwhile, alternative arrangements are being put in place to ensure the continuous supply of water to essential service providers, including schools and hospitals.
Institutions likely to run out of storage have been advised to promptly contact their Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs), Assembly Members, Unit Committee Members, or reach out directly to the GWL Call Centres on 0207385089, 0207385090, or 0302218240 for support.
The company expressed gratitude to customers for their patience and understanding during this period, assuring that regular supply will resume once repair works are completed.
