President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Diana Asoketarige Ayamga for appointment as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Bongo District Assembly, in line with constitutional and legal provisions.
The nomination, contained in a letter dated April 7, 2026, from the Office of the President, was made pursuant to Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20(1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), as amended.
The appointment of Madam Ayamga is, however, subject to approval by members of the District Assembly, as required by law.
Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, who signed the notice, urged the Assembly to consider the nomination in accordance with established procedures.
If approved, Madam Ayamga will be responsible for overseeing the administration and development agenda of the district, working closely with assembly members and other stakeholders to advance local governance and service delivery.
Her nomination forms part of ongoing efforts by government to strengthen local governance structures and ensure effective leadership across district assemblies in the country.
