Hon. Agyekum Dampare has formally declared his intention to contest the position of Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Fanteakwa South Constituency, pledging to rebuild the party’s grassroots structures and position the constituency for victory in the 2028 general elections.
Making his declaration on Sunday, September 13, 2026, under the theme “Resetting Fanteakwa South,” Mr. Dampare said his decision followed extensive consultations with family members, party elders, stalwarts, branch executives, youth and women groups, as well as careful reflection on the future of the party in the constituency.
He said the NDC’s longstanding loyalty and resilience in Fanteakwa South must now be matched by a deliberate effort to strengthen the party’s organisation, unity and grassroots mobilisation.
“We must reset our branch structures, reset our unity, reset our mobilisation and reset our commitment to the grassroots,” he declared.
Unity at the Heart of His Agenda
Mr. Dampare identified unity as one of the central pillars of his proposed administration, pledging to serve as a chairman for all members without discrimination or factionalism.
He said he would work to reconcile aggrieved members and bring them back into the party fold in order to build what he described as “one united NDC family ready for victory in 2028.”
“I will be a Chairman for all. No factionalism, no discrimination,” he stressed.
85+ Branches Targeted for Strengthening
On his vision for electoral victory, the Constituency Chairman hopeful said his priority would be to strengthen all 85-plus branches within Fanteakwa South.
He promised to support and resource branch executives, empower the Youth and Women wings, and intensify grassroots mobilisation to make the constituency a formidable electoral base for the NDC.
According to him, a strong constituency organisation must begin at the branch level, where party executives maintain direct contact with voters and communities.
Connecting the Party to Development
Mr. Dampare also linked his proposed organisational reforms to the development aspirations of the people of Fanteakwa South.
He said effective party leadership must maintain a strong connection with the people and ensure that their concerns are heard and reflected in the party’s activities and advocacy.
He pledged to pay greater attention to the concerns of farmers, teachers, traders, drivers and the youth, while making the constituency organisation more responsive to issues affecting communities.
Discipline and Effective Organisation
Another key component of his agenda, he said, would be the restoration of discipline and effective administration within the constituency.
He promised to promote regular meetings, proper record-keeping and strategic planning to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the constituency’s operations.
Mr. Dampare said his years of service to the NDC at both branch and constituency levels had equipped him with a strong understanding of the challenges confronting the grassroots.
“I have served this party with dedication, humility and sacrifice at the branch and constituency levels. I understand the pain of the grassroots, the aspirations of our youth and the work needed to win,” he said.
Appeal to Delegates
The Constituency Chairman hopeful appealed to delegates, party elders and the rank and file of the NDC to support his bid and join him in implementing what he described as a comprehensive resetting agenda.
He emphasised that “Resetting Fanteakwa South” was not merely an election slogan but a mission focused on rebuilding unity, strengthening party structures, improving grassroots mobilisation and preparing the constituency for electoral success.
“Together, let us reset Fanteakwa South for victory, for unity and for development,” he said.
His declaration adds to the growing preparations for the NDC’s internal constituency elections, where grassroots organisation, party unity, effective leadership and electoral preparedness are expected to be major issues in the contest.
