The regional leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has categorically refuted recent claims made by The Chronicles and other media outlets concerning the alleged suspension of the party’s women’s organizer for Kumawu Constituency. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, issued a statement today to clarify the situation and denounce the false reportage.
The malicious publication had asserted that the women’s organizer, Akua Afriyie, had declared support for one of the Presidential Aspirants from the opposing New Patriotic Party (NPP), namely Alan Kyeremanteng.
Dr. Amoakohene vehemently denied these allegations, emphasizing that no such declaration had been made by any of the party’s women’s organizers, and no suspension had been carried out by any party structure.
Furthermore, Dr. Amoakohene emphasized that the name Akua Afriyie was not found in any of the party’s records as a women’s organizer or a party executive at any level – be it branch, constituency, or regional.
In his statement, Dr. Amoakohene reaffirmed the NDC’s unwavering focus on the upcoming 2024 elections, expressing the party’s commitment to unseating the current government.
He expressed confidence in the NDC’s prospects and stated that the party had no vested interest in the NPP’s internal primaries. Dr. Amoakohene underlined that the NDC’s sole objective was to secure victory for H.E. John Dramani Mahama and the NDC in the upcoming December 2024 elections.
