The Ghana Federation of American Football (GFAF) has been officially incorporated under the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, marking a major milestone in the introduction and development of American football in Ghana.
Led by President Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, a professional NFL athlete, the newly established federation is set to spearhead the promotion and growth of the sport across all 16 regions of the country.
As the official governing body for American football in Ghana, the GFAF has outlined a strategic and sustainable development plan. Key elements of the plan include the introduction of the sport in schools and communities nationwide, with infrastructure and facilities to support talent development.
The federation will also supply development kits to schools, integrating American football into inter-school sports competitions and youth sporting programs. In addition, GFAF plans to establish a national league to promote structured competition, sportsmanship, and community engagement.
According to GFAF, the ultimate goal is to empower the next generation of athletes and position Ghana on the global stage of American football. With the backing of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, the federation is confident of leaving a lasting impact on Ghana’s sporting landscape.
