The Head of Region for International Centre from Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), Madam Mojisola Sodeinde has stated that, ICMPD recognized that, the inclusion of women in the ICT fields helps reduce inequalities in all sectors of which Ghana Immigration Service is no exception.

She made this remarks during the celebration of this year’s International Women’s Day by the Ghana Immigration Service on the theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality”.

” Involving female officers in ICT fields can help achieve a higher rate of productivity and innovation to lessen professional shortage. We look forward to seeing more female officers shattering the glass ceiling and attaining higher laurels in ICT”.

ICMPD Madam Mojisola pointed out, provide support to GIS to enhance its institutional and operational capacity in cybersecurity and information exchange systems.

“Once again congratulations to Ghana Immigration Service and all who are working to promote gender equality through innovation and technology within GIS and your various organisations”.

On her part, DCOI Maud Quainoo, Head of Operations Secretariat at GIS said, gender is a vital element in development saying, ICT fields have brought serious innovation to mankind.

She noted that, men always dominate the technology field but said, it is time women takes over the ICT fields looking at their number added that, equal opportunities should be given to both men and women.

International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.

Since those early years, International Women’s Day has assumed a new global dimension for women in developed and developing countries alike.

The growing international women’s movement, which has been strengthened by four global United Nations women’s conferences, has helped make the commemoration a rallying point to build support for women’s rights and participation in the political and economic arenas.
