The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana (ELCG) with the mission to bring hope and salvation to the people of Ghana through the proclamation of the Gospel of Christ, has officially cut sod to begin the construct 24 unit ultra modern classroom block at All Saints Lutheran Church at Anyaa, in the Ga Central District in the Greater Accra Region.
The President/Bishop of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana, Rev. John Shadrack in his speech said, the Church is poised to provide opportunities that would ensure educational infrastructure in all the major district in Ghana.
“Currently, we have schools in several places in Ghana where the church has presence. Next Month we are commissioning another block of classrooms in Bunkpurugu in the Northern Region targeting over 1,000 pupils “.
He said the church believes that educated community would be a blessing to the entire country in the long run. “For this we give glory to God for the vision of our forebears and the current Evangelical Lutheran School Board of Directors, many of whom are here present”.
In an interview, the Director of Lutheran Schools, Mr. Joseph Lanbon disclosed that, the total cost of the project is estimated at 12 million Ghana Cedis and is being financed by Ecobank.”We are expecting that within 6 months time, the first floor will be completed for use”.
According to Mr. Joseph Lanbon, management is committed to provide quality education base on Lutheran standard adding that, about 96 percent of the school children obtained grade 1 or 2 . “This is what we worked towards. It is our standard. Our children can be found in all the best schools in the country “.
Among the dignitaries that witnessed the group breaking ceremony include; the 1st Vice Chairman, Mr. Alex Lanbon, MCE of Ga Central, Hon. Armed Bashiru Muhammed,, Chairman of National Education Board (NEB) of ELCG, the Clergy of ELCG in Greater Accra, MCD, Mr. John Owusu , the Head of Public Sector ECOBANK, Mr. Adi Kwarteng, Mr.Wayo Armed, Ecobank (Branch Manager Re-insurance House Branch), Mr. Alex Ashong and Ecobank Relationship Manager.
The 18 classroom block facility comprises of; library, offices, computer laboratory, teachers’ rooms etc.
