The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, responsible for Lands and Forestry, Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio, has expressed the Ministry’s appreciation to the Press Corps and the Communications team for their support by ensuring that the Ministry’s programmes and policies are well comminuted to the general public.

The Ministry he mentioned, cherished the partnership and expressed their commitment in fostering closer relationship with the media in disseminating the Ministry’s programmes and all other things.

He The emphasis that, through the hard work of their communication team under the leadership of Mr. Abraham Otabil in establishing a cordial relationship with the media, the Ministry is now one of the vibrant among all.

“Indeed, the Ministry view the Media as an indispensable partners and will continue to engage to keep Ghanaians informed about the operations of the Ministry.


” Our doors remains open and we are encouraging you to collaborate with the public relations office of the Ministry and its agencies to enhance a mutually satisfactory framework that will guide your activities”.

He used the opportunity to outlines the Ministry’s plans for the year which include monitoring and evaluating some of the major interventions implemented in the areas of land, forest, and mining particularly, the flagship Green Ghana Project, the ongoing Community Mining Schemes dotted across the country as well as 80-90% complete Appiatse Reconstruction project.

He explained that while some of these interventions have yielded significant results, there remain some challenges which with the effective collaboration can be dealt with.

The Deputy Minister on behalf of the Sector Minister, Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor said, the Ministry cherishes the partnership it has with the Press Corps Members and express their commitment to fostering closer relations with the media in disseminating the Ministry’s programmes and projects.

The Ministry he mentioned, see the media as an indispensable arm of its work and would continue to engage with the Press Corps to keep Ghanaians informed about the operations of the Ministry.

Mr. Joseph Osiakwah, the Technical Director in charge of Forestry disclosed that, the Press Corps within the forest sector, has supported a lot in terms of education and awareness creation on the protection of the forest resources.

He entreated the media to continue to help in its fight against the illegal logging activities being carried out by the chain saw operators.

He however, expressed worried about the rampant attacks and killings of the Forestry Gurds whilst on duty.

Mr. Peter Awuah, the Technical Director in charge of Mining, expressed his appreciations to the Press Corps for the support rendered in the area of illegal mining, and called for deeper collaboration in the fight of the illegal mining canker.
