The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has passed out 264 Trading Standards Inspectors to strengthen its operations and improve enforcement of trading standards across the country.

The passing-out ceremony was held at the Mount Mary College of Education in Somanya on Friday, October 10, 2026.

Speaking to the media after the ceremony, the Acting Director of Administration and Human Resource Directorate of the GSA, Barbara Apefa Wuttor, Esq., described the training and deployment of the inspectors as a significant step towards enhancing the Authority’s mandate of protecting consumers and ensuring fair trade.

She explained that the newly trained inspectors will augment the work of the Authority in ensuring compliance with trading standards nationwide.

Mrs. Wuttor disclosed that her outfit is working together with the Ministry to secure financial clearance for the inspectors. She added that the inspectors will be deployed to all 16 regions of the country and will be provided with technology to detect fake products on the market.

On his part, the Greater Accra Regional Manager of the Ghana Standards Authority, Mr. Clement Kubati, urged the inspectors to discharge their duties with integrity, professionalism and commitment.

He emphasized that their conduct and dedication will be crucial to strengthening public confidence in the Authority and achieving its core mandate.

According to him, the inspectors are expected to help ensure that goods and services on the Ghanaian market meet the required standards, protect consumers from substandard products, and promote fair trading practices.

He added that the two-week intensive training has adequately equipped the inspectors for the task ahead.

Out of the 264 inspectors, 103 are females and 161 are males.

The ceremony marks another major step by the Ghana Standards Authority in its quest to strengthen standards enforcement and safeguard consumer interests across the country.
