A concerned native of Nakpanduri, Israel Yenukwa Kabir, has issued a strong statement condemning the continued use of images from his peaceful hometown in media reports covering the ongoing conflict in Bawku and its surrounding areas.
In the statement released on Saturday, Kabir described the misrepresentation as misleading and irresponsible, urging media houses to adhere to the ethical standards of journalism. He emphasized that Nakpanduri remains calm, stable, and united — far removed from the tensions and violence in Bawku.
“It is not only inaccurate but also damaging to use peaceful scenes from Nakpanduri to portray unrest,” Kabir said. “This creates unnecessary fear and confusion and unjustly tarnishes the image of a town that has remained peaceful.”
He called on all media outlets involved in the misrepresentation to promptly correct or retract the misleading visuals and issue clarifications to their audiences.
Kabir concluded by encouraging journalists to prioritize truth, accuracy, and context in their storytelling, reminding them that the people of Nakpanduri deserve fair and honest representation.
