The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, on 18th May, 2026, held discussions with officials from the Department of Agriculture, members of the Poultry Farmers Association and private investors on practical interventions aimed at supporting poultry farmers within the region.
A major focus of the engagement was the persistent challenge of egg glut, which continues to affect poultry farmers and impact productivity and profitability within the sector.
Discussions explored measures to support the purchase, processing and value addition of poultry products, particularly eggs, to help stabilize the market, reduce post-production losses and create sustainable opportunities for farmers.
Private investors at the meeting expressed interest in partnering stakeholders within the poultry value chain to strengthen local production and support the growth of the poultry industry.
The engagement forms part of broader efforts to support agriculture, promote agro-processing, strengthen food production and improve livelihoods across the Ashanti Region.
Hon. Dr. Amoakohene commended poultry farmers for their resilience and dedication to the agricultural sector despite existing challenges, expressing optimism that stronger partnerships would bring long-term relief and growth to the industry.
