The Global Africa Forum 2024, an event designed to mobilize African investment and global collaboration, is set to take place in New York on September 25, 2024. This prestigious forum will feature an impressive line-up of high-profile speakers, including H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana; H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA); and Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank.
The forum, organized under the theme “Mobilizing Global African Investments for Africa’s Infrastructural Needs,” aims to align with the broader theme of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025. This dialogue will focus on driving investments into key infrastructural projects across Africa’s single market, encompassing 55 nations and 1.4 billion people.
Additional key speakers include Wale Tinubu, President of Oando Plc; Hollywood actor and Pan-African advocate Boris Kodjoe; H.E. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs; and Ahunna Eziakonwa, Head of UNDP Africa, among others. The forum, held at Dentons’ conference hall, is organized by the Africa Prosperity Network (APN) in collaboration with the Africa-America Institute (AAI) and is supported by AfCFTA and the Africa Business Council.
This year’s event will encourage public-private partnerships and attract global investors looking to tap into Africa’s rapidly integrating markets, valued at over US$3.4 trillion. It will also explore US-Africa economic policies aimed at unlocking funding for large-scale infrastructure projects in sectors such as energy, health, education, and transportation.
Stéphanie Diatta, Head of Partnership, Sponsorship & International Relations at APN, emphasized the strategic importance of the forum, stating, “The Global Africa Forum is a critical platform for connecting people of African descent worldwide to Africa’s development and the economic opportunities that Africa’s growing market provides.”
As a side event of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, the forum offers a unique opportunity to galvanize interest in Africa’s development, fostering significant global-African partnerships.
