The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), as part of its mandate to mobilize citizens of Ghana to participate in the electoral process actively and to complement the efforts of Ghana’s Electoral Commission in ensuring transparent, free, fair, and peaceful elections in the country.
Based on that, the Coalition has trained and deployed 45 observers to all selected constituencies to observe the voter exhibition exercise.
In a press statement issued and signed by National Coordinator of CODEO, Albert Kofi Arhin admonished the observers to adhere to best practices during the observation process.
“As observers, your role is to observe, not to interfere”, it said.
It further entreated all registered voters to take advantage of the exercise to visit exhibition centers and/or use the EC’s exhibition short code to verify their details and support the EC’s efforts of cleaning the voter register.

CODEO TRAINS AND DEPLOYS 45 OBSERVERS FOR THE EXHIBITION OF PROVISIONAL VOTERS’ REGISTER
The Electoral Commission of Ghana is undertaking a voter exhibition exercise from August 20 to August 27, 2024.
The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), as part of its mandate to mobilize citizens of Ghana to participate in the electoral process actively and to complement the efforts of Ghana’s Electoral Commission in ensuring transparent, free, fair, and
peaceful elections, has trained and deployed 45 observers to 45 purposefully selected constituencies to observe the voter exhibition exercise.
CODEO conducted comprehensive training for all 45 observers ahead of their deployment, ensuring they were fully equipped to professionally observe the exhibition process and deliver high-quality reports to CODEO’s data center throughout the period.
Speaking at the training, Mr. Albert Arhin, the National Coordinator of
CODEO, admonished the observers to adhere to best practices during the observation process. “As observers, your role is to observe, not to interfere.
Your professionalism is crucial to the credibility of this exercise and, by extension, to the integrity of our electoral system”, he said.
As the country prepares for the December 2024 general elections, CODEO entreats all registered voters to take advantage of the exercise to visit exhibition centers and/or use the EC’s exhibition short code to verify their details and support the EC’s efforts of cleaning the voter register.
CODEO calls upon the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana to uphold the highest standards of impartiality and openness throughout the exhibition exercise and ensure accessibility for all registered voters.
Further, CODEO urges the EC and the National Commission for Civic
Education (NCCE) to intensify their public awareness campaigns.
To all stakeholders, particularly political parties and their supporters, CODEO expects full adherence to the electoral laws of Ghana. Any concerns or disputes should be addressed through the appropriate lega channels to maintain the peace and credibility of the process.
