The Office of former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed profound satisfaction with the ruling from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which exonerates the former president from allegations related to the Airbus bribery scandal.
According to a press release signed by Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to HE John Dramani Mahama, this ruling reaffirms their long-held belief in Mahama’s integrity and his commitment to the principles of honesty and transparency.
The statement emphasized that the facts of the case have always been clear, and the public has witnessed attempts by the current government to manipulate the matter for political gain. Despite the UK’s Serious Fraud Office clarifying that Mahama’s brother and others involved had no case to answer, the ruling government continued to frame the scandal as a tool for political advantage.
The OSP’s revelation that President Nana Akufo-Addo personally requested an investigation into President Mahama further casts doubt on the motives behind the initial accusations, suggesting they were intended to tarnish the reputation of an innocent man.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari further stated that the lies and fabricated stories against President Mahama over the past eight years have consistently been proven false. She highlighted that Mahama has always been open to investigation, fully cooperating with any inquiry, and has nothing to hide.
In the same spirit of transparency, she challenged Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo to subject themselves to equal scrutiny, as accountability in leadership is paramount.
Former President Mahama, she affirmed, remains dedicated to Ghana’s progress and the fight against corruption in all its forms. He will continue to advocate for a better Ghana for all, undeterred by the fabrications or machinations of political opponents.
