The National Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has issued a stern warning to President Akufo-Addo, urging him to relinquish power peacefully, as his predecessors have done. This caution comes amidst concerns over President Akufo-Addo’s repeated declarations that he would only hand over power to a candidate other than NDC Flagbearer John Mahama.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasized that a peaceful transfer of power is crucial for maintaining national harmony and stability, warning that any attempts to subvert this process would create a fertile ground for chaos.

He also expressed dismay over the National Peace Council’s silence on the unfolding events in the country, stressing that their mandate includes advising the President when he deviates from the path of wisdom.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia appealed to the nation’s chiefs, as the last resort, to speak truth to power and not toe the line of the “clueless” President Akufo-Addo, emphasizing the importance of their non-partisan stance.

Furthermore, he urged Ghanaians to reject Dr. Bawumia due to his lack of credibility, reiterating that a peaceful outcome in this year’s elections is paramount for the country’s well-being.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia’s statements underscore the NDC’s commitment to ensuring a smooth transition of power and upholding the principles of democracy.
