Member of Parliament for North Tongu in the Volta Region, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has celebrated Ghanaians for their courage in defending the nation against detrimental actions.
This follows the retraction of the attempted sale of SSNIT’s 60% shares in hotels, which was fiercely opposed by Ghanaians due to concerns over lack of transparency and potential state capture.
In a social media post, the legislator described the final withdrawal by Rock City Hotel and the cancellation of the process by SSNIT as a significant victory for all Ghanaians, particularly stressing the strength of Organized Labour.
He stated that this outcome demonstrates that nothing is impossible when Ghana’s interests are prioritized and when people work together to promote the nation’s development and growth.
He called for the immediate resignation of the leadership of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) for betraying the trust of contributors and Ghanaians at large.
He emphasized that given the termination of the hotel sale after much resistance; the SSNIT leadership should have their appointments terminated.
Ablakwa warned those in authority to ensure their actions reflect the interests of Ghana and to never take the Ghanaian people for granted.
He pledged his commitment to continue fighting societal ills and the battle against state capture, expressing confidence in future victories.
He expressed profound gratitude and appreciation to Ghanaians for their overwhelming support in his fight against corruption.
He wrote, “I am eternally grateful to all Ghanaians for the tremendous and overwhelming solidarity. For God and Country, and Ghana First to Stop State Capture.”

You can’t destroy Mahama with misinformation and disinformation – Joyce Bawah
The spokesperson for John Dramani Mahama has asserted that attempts by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration to tarnish the former President’s reputation as a diversion from their incompetence, corruption, and state capture will not succeed.
She condemned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Ado for using misinformation and disinformation over the past eight years to obscure the corrupt, disrespectful, and incompetent administration, which has plunged many Ghanaians into hardship.

The statement is a response to false claims published by pro-government media outlets Asaase Radio and Daily Guide, accusing the NDC flagbearer of seeking assistance from the Russian government for the 2024 election.

Bawah Mogtari stressed that the NPP has consistently used propaganda tools to cover up their failings, leading to widespread suffering among Ghanaians.

“Over the last eight years, the government of Nana Akufo-Addo has relied on misinformation and disinformation as tools to whitewash the corrupt, deplorable, disrespectful, incompetent, and maladministration that has pushed many Ghanaians into hardship and difficulty in making ends meet,” she said.

She denounced the false reports, stating, “We became aware on Thursday of the syndication of a pack of lies written by NPP propagandists and being passed off as news articles for various NPP tabloids and propaganda outlets, including Asaase Radio and Daily Guide.”

“While it has always been obvious that Asaase Radio and its affiliates were established as conduits for government propaganda, one would have thought that after passing them off as media institutions, George Andah, Wilberforce Asare, and co, who shamelessly spread falsehood at every turn, would be mindful of the need to remember that the practice of journalism comes with some ethics.”

She condemned the fabrication of stories alleging that Mahama was in Russia to solicit support for the 2024 elections.

She clarified that Mahama was in Moscow to launch the Russian translation of his memoir, “My First Coup D’etat and Other Stories from the Lost Decades of Africa,” at the Russian Academy of Sciences, an event attended by Ghana’s Ambassador to Russia, Dr. Oheneba Akyaa Opoku Ware, and her embassy staff.

“As a statesman of considerable repute, Mahama believes in fostering healthy relations among nations to promote global peace, security, and prosperity. This is what he has been known for since his early days as MP, Minister, Vice President, President, and in his engagements with many nations and institutions around the world,” she stated.

She slammed the unprofessional conduct of pseudo-journalists and media institutions that spread malicious lies against Mahama and the NDC, describing their actions as irresponsible and reckless.

“To be part of a conspiracy to tell blatant lies about respectable individuals in aid of the NPP and Bawumia’s drowning campaign is the height of irresponsibility and utter recklessness,” she said.

Bawah Mogtari urged the Ghanaian public to disregard these falsehoods and reiterated Mahama’s commitment to engaging the people of Ghana with his vision for the country’s future.

Mr. Mahama and the NDC, she said, remain focused on engaging the people of Ghana on his well-considered and carefully curated vision, which will catalyze the reset of the country towards building the ‘Ghana we want together.’
“We must fight state capture, corruption, and return Ghana to the path of good governance, prudent economic management, and rapid development,” she added.

She expressed her gratitude to Ghanaians for their support in the fight against corruption, saying, “I am eternally grateful to all Ghanaians for the tremendous and overwhelming solidarity.”

Napo is a liability
By Godwin Ako Gunn
My mouth dropped, and my legs wobbled. I looked around to see if others were feeling the same, and Marcus Brutus was shocked and couldn’t have a word to describe him. It’s true, no one can teach an old dog, new tricks. Napo, this apology will not wash “You go explain taya”
Be careful who the NPP brands to you as a saint, or as the best. They did same with Nana and Bawumia. Napo has a lot of similarities with Nana. Their weaknesses are clear and known, yet they believe they can be rebranded and sold.
How can a naturally disrespectful and arrogant person be branded and sold? They succeeded with Nana, and they believe they can be second time lucky, with Napo and Bawumia. Very soon, Napo will start eating in peoples’ homes, carrying kids on his laps, sitting in trotro, cleaning streets like Nana did when he was seeking votes. Later, he will tell you he is a royal from Apagyafie, so you must lie on the floor before greeting him.
How can Napo be rebranded with his tribalistic traits? Just like Nana, who was rebranded from his “yen Akanfour” statement, Napo will struggle to do the same. After saying, “If we get 80% of Ashanti votes, we don’t care what happens in other regions. Let’s forget everyone and ensure that every Ashanti gets a T-shirt and we are good to go.” No wonder there is no development in Ashanti. What will he tell people outside his region when he starts his tour. Lest I forget, why is Napo trying as much as possible to disassociate himself from his mother’s clan. I thought Akans were matrilineal? Or his mum is from an inferior tribe somewhere.
Napo, we were told, is both an Anglican and a Charismatic Christian. None of these sects are pro- LGBTQ+. So where does his choices and faith clash, especially when he goes for first service at the Anglican Church, and goes for second service at a Charismatic Church. 3ny3 wanwan? See his efforts in the introduction of the “our world, our people” in our children’s educational curriculum.
Senior Napo, you have a lot of work to do. If you can goof on your first day and with your first statement, then I can only wish you well. If you apologize on your happy day, I wonder what people will expect on your low moments.
Anyway, my Dumsor timetable is ready. Where do I take it now that you are enjoying a more responsible position?
Let me again appeal to all right thinking Ghanaians not to give up. Keep hope alive. There are better days ahead.
