The Organized Labour is demanding an immediate termination of the proposed sale of SSNIT’s hotels to Rock City Hotel Ltd.
The union has instructed all workers in the country not to go to work with effect from Monday, 15″ July, 2024 until SSNIT stops the display of arrogance and insensitivity and publicly announces the termination of the process as demand by workers .
This decision took place at a press conference after an emergency meeting organised by the leadership of the various unions follows the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, responsible for pensions statement in Parliament that NPRA has approved the sale of 60% of SSNIT’s shares in the hotets.
Organized Labour has followed the developments on the proposed sale of 60% of SSNIT’s stake in four hotels with keen interest, especially after Labour leadership meeting with the President of the Republic on the matter on 25 June, 2024 at the Jubilee House.
The union reiterated its position that the proposed sale of SSNIT’s shares in the four hotets is not in the best interest of Ghanaian workers,
According to them the Board of NPRA issued a directive on 28th June to SSNIT to suspend the negotiation with Rock City Hotel Ltd. and therefore, find it extremely strange to understand how and why NPRA would make a turn around to approve such deal two weeks after the directive”.
