GNTDA URGES GOVERNMENT TO EMPLOY QUALIFIED TAILORS WITH PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATES INTO THE PUBLIC SECTOR

It is the Thirteenth(13)mass graduation of Eighty (80) apprentice who have qualify to pass out and become master Tailors or Fashion designers at Yeji(Pru East District – B/E Region)

A colorful event took place at Yeji yesterday when the registered GNTDA under the NVTI examined the apprentice who came under their training for some years. After the examination, Eighty(80) passed and was graduated successfully yesterday.

Chairman of the Association(Yeji branch), Mr. Effah Amos explained that since they started as a registered association, they passed out apprentice not less than 50 every year.

He further said that due to financial constraints, most of the graduands are not able to set up their own shops and are left to unnecessary. This discouraged others especially people who have completed some levels of education with no jobs but could find the alternative way of becoming apprentice.

*So they’re urging Government to employ qualified tailors with professional certificate onto the public sector like Police, immigration and the other required sectors. They also ask to be given contracts to sew uniforms to schools and many others to boost the dressmakers confidence.*

He asserted all the graduands have successfully passed their National and Local examines and have being awarded a *”Professional and Accredited Certificate” from NVTI.* With the certificate, they could be contracted by Government or the public sector. Some can also join the various security service with this certificate together with other certificates.

One of the masters with name Mr. Mark said Tailors are not liars as it is the perception of the public but due the nature of their job and pressure on them, if they’re not able to satisfied a custom, they seen as liars. Madam Mary advised the graduands to go in peace but start life with a place they will find themselves and the future will be bright.

Finally, the outgoing graduands expressed gratitude to their masters for the years they have spent together, the knowledge and skills inculcated them. They promised to make better lives with the knowledge to make their masters proud.

Others also supported the call of the chairman Mr. Amos Effah for Government to employ them because they’re professionals.
