Today, we celebrate the enduring legacy of a statesman, leader, and champion of the people. Former President Jerry John Rawlings, who would have turned 77 today, left an indelible mark on Ghana’s history. His journey was defined by courage, conviction, and an unwavering commitment to justice.

As a military leader and later a democratically-elected President, Rawlings tirelessly promoted economic development, social justice, and political stability. While we honor his life and achievements, we also acknowledge the complexities that accompanied his rule. Yet, his legacy as a champion of the underprivileged and a unifying force for the nation remains unwavering.

We remember his infectious smile, boundless energy, and unwavering dedication to Ghana. Let us continue to strive for the ideals he embodied: justice, equality, and a better life for all.

Happy 77th birthday, former President Rawlings. Your impact on Ghana’s history will forever be remembered.
