The National Democratic Party (NDP) has called on Organized Labour to play a representative role in the nation by keeping a mandatory pin-hole watch over the administrative and financial machinery of their establishments to eliminate corruption in the country. “It does not make sense to seek better pay whilst at their watch there are countless financial infractions”.

The notion of winner takes all by the Executive in the country according to NDP, should be defused and MMDCEs.

“This rather stifled the deserving participation of the people as the primary arm of government. Why should the people’s representatives in the legislature be the ones to stifle the democratic participation of the people who elected them?”.

This came to light at a press conference organized by NDP involving national and regional executives held in Accra.

Addressing the media, the Secretary General of NDP, Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong called for partnership with the entire nation to eradicate misleading national discourse which takes center stage in every eight-year cycle of general elections.

He pointed out that, the fourth republican democracy is now getting choked on acts and practices that go counter to the two primary lessons and therefore unsustainable.

The 1992 Constitution Alhaji Frimpong averred, makes a bold and extensive restatement of the same definition of democracy for participation in decision-making in all nooks and crannies of the nation, as a clear directive to probity and accountability.

“Unfortunately what we hear in every eight-year cycle are strident recriminations within the Parliamentary duopoly of NDC and NPP. They stir so many accusations of perceived or real rot giving the nation nasal fatigue to feel the stench”.

The country’s discourse in an election year he added, does not strengthen the democracy in the sense of national solidarity and cohesion.

The narrative for national development on the 2024 general elections according to Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong, must be by the fundamental governance policy roadmap of inclusive and participatory leadership.

“True leaders inspire their following to pursue a higher and noble task of virtue for wellbeing and livelihood. This is a collective and shared value to be led by all in inclusive and participatory leadership, Let not continue on the same path of political recrimination that has deepened our countless social ills in an erosion of national morality”.
