The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ledzokuku Constituency,Hon. Benjamin Ayiku in the Greater Accra Region has donated 200 school desks to Schools under his jurisdiction.
Speaking to the Media, Hon. Benjamin Ayiku revealed that, he received a lot of complaints from both parents and the education Directorate about the lack classroom furniture in the various schools within the Metropolitan.
Hon. Ayiku hinted that last year, he supported the schools with 100 pieces of dual desk but was later informed that it was inadequate to them so, he decided to increase it this year from 100 to 200.
The 200 desk Hon. Benjamin Ayiku stated, would go a long way to help the school children had a comfortable place to seat. “These are our future leaders and we are educated them to take over from us when we are gone”.
The school children he averred can be seen from their faces that they are indeed happy to have gotten a comfortable place to seat. “My advise to the authorities is that, they should handle this furniture with care so that it will last. I have a remember when we were in school, the furniture that we use, lasted over years. I was am optimistic that my mom was great gtreat grand children will also come to use.”
The 200 desk is to be shared across all the public schools in
Ledzokuku Municipal on the distribution of dual and mono desk from the Member of Parliament Hon. Benjamin Ayiku Narteh.
The Principal Director of Education for ,Ledzokuku, Mrs. Theresa Tetteh expressed her joy of the MP’s gesture saying, the desk has come at the time they needed it most because, schools in the Municipality have shortage of desk added that, last year the MP brought them 100 pieces but this time, he has brought them 200.
100 desk out of the 200 she mentioned, is going to the second cycle particularly technical schools whilst the other 100 also goes to the basic Schools.
She assured the MP of making good use of the desk and also ensure maintenance culture saying, the donation would go a long way to improve academic performance of school children.
The beneficiary schools include, TESHIE PRESBY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL-60, TESHIE TECHNICAL TRAINING CENTRE-20, O’RIELLY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL-20, BETHLEHEM PRESBY BASIC-20, ANGLICAN ‘A’ BASIC 10, ANGLICAN ‘B’ BASIC 10, DAR-ES-SALAAM ISLAMIC 10, SALEM PRESBY JHS 10, ABOMA PRESBY BASIC 10, HEDOR R/C BASIC 10, LEKMA 1&11 PRIM 5, CAMP ‘2′ JHS 5, KROBO BASIC SCHOOL 5, LEKMA 7 JHS 5.
