Robert Roy Reindolf, who was an Independent Presidential Candidate for the 2024 elections, has called for the impeachment and removal of President Nana Akufo-Addo following the president’s controversial statement that he would not hand over power, particularly to John Mahama, if he were to win the election. Reindolf has described this pronouncement as unconstitutional, undemocratic, and a threat to Ghana’s peace, security, and stability.
In response to these concerns, Reindolf has announced his withdrawal from the presidential race, citing the need for a transitional government led by the Speaker of Parliament. He argues that such a government should oversee the amendment of the 1992 Constitution before a credible and peaceful election can be held.
Reindolf emphasized the importance of cleaning up what he describes as a “faulty” and “cursed” 1992 Constitution, which he believes could lead to devastating consequences for the nation if left unchanged. He urges that the 2024 election be postponed until these amendments are made to ensure a secure and stable future for Ghana.
Reindolf concluded by expressing his conviction that these actions are necessary for the country’s well-being and called on others to support his stance in the interest of national stability.
