Npp Group Runs to Chief imam over Abu Ramadan and Oti Bonsu demolition impasse

The Coalition of Concerned Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has petitioned the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu to intervene in the ongoing impass between Mr. George Oti Bonsu, a businessman, politician and a longtime friend of the Islamic community in Ghana, and Mr. Abu Ramadan, the biological brother of the second lady Her Excellency Samifa Bawumia as quickly ss possible.

In the petition, they expressed their worry about the issue of plead for an amicable solution.
It states, “We the undersigned are representatives of various groups of Concemed Friends of Mr. George Oti Bonsu and write to humbly pray for the intervention of His Eminence the National Chief Imam in an ongoing impass between Mr. George Oti Bonsu, a businessman, politician and also a longtime friend of the Islamic community in Ghana, and Mr. Abu Ramadan, the biological brother of the second lady Her EXCELLENCY SAMIRA BAWUMIA as quickly ss practicable”.

The petition was signed by Rev. (RETIRED) Dickson Kankam Boadu, Chairman and Diaspora Rep, Nana Ekow Annan Nyarko 1st Vice Chairman, Francis Tosu Yao, Secretary, Zakaria Sulemana, Director of Operations and Madam Cynthia Akumoa Boateng and the Women’s Commissioner who are loyal card bearing members of the NPP and are in good standing, and registered voters,

The statement recounts the incident in the early hours of 7th April 2024 (during this year’s Ramadan period) of a massive demolition exercise involving ten two storey houses belonging to Mr. George Oti Bonsu at Adjiringano near East Legion in Accra masterminded by Mr. Abu Ramadan and his accomplices.
This according to the group was disclosed by Mr. George Oti Bonsu during a press conference organized by his friends and sympathizers at the demolition site on 24th April 2024 and told the World that the demolition exercise was carried out on the explicit orders of Mr. Abu Ramadan, the biological brother of the Second lady HER EXCELLENCY SAMIRA BAWUMIA and Brother in law of Dr Bawumia, NPP Presidential candidate for 2024 elections.
Mr George Oti Bonsu estimated the cost of the ten houses pulled down as 3.5million US Dollars.

According to the Coalition, Mr. George Oti Bonsu has been a lonetime friend of the Islamic community in Ghana and as a demonstration of his love and friendship with the Islamic faith he has made donations of several Jitbabs, Sadajahs / Pray er mats ctc. He also encouraged his biological son to build a Mosque at Asante – Akycm Agogo in the Ashanti region for the Islamic community there.

“It is interesting to know that the said mosque is named after Mr. George Oti Bonsu. We are worried that Mr. Ramadan’s despicable act of destruction of the properties of Mr. Bonsu could go a long way to disturb the peace of the country and also discourage others from fending any support to the {slamic community in Ghana”.

The ordinary party member the statement indicated, is alarmed that if the above-mentioned excruciating pain unleashed on a distinguished financier of the party without any action taken by the party leadership, then what would be the faith of foot soldiers and ordinary card bearing members like them. “It is against this backdrop that we, the Coalition of Concerned Members of the New Patriotic Party hereby makes a passionate appeal to your highly respected office to take conscious and concerted steps to resolve this ravaging impasse between Mr. George Oti Bonsu and Mr. Abu Ramadan as early as practicable. We are critically worried because our great party is preparing zealousty for a re-election in less than six months, and we need every party member’s intellectual, financial, physical, and logistical support to retain power”.
