The parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Subin Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Nana Akwasi Denkyi Agyekum, made a significant appearance at the Kumasi Kejetia Market, popularly known as “Mahama Dubai,” last week Thursday. The visit was part of his efforts to formally introduce himself to the traders and constituents.
The dynamic young politician was accompanied by the regional communications officer, Lawyer Abass Nurudeen, his deputy Amoh Kamal, constituency executives, and members of the Kumasi Central Market NDC Association. This event demonstrated the party’s preparedness and commitment for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.
During a media briefing following his tour of the market, Nana Denkyi Agyekum urged traders to place their confidence in the leadership of John Dramani Mahama. He emphasized Mahama’s previous accomplishments, which shows his track record, particularly highlighting the swift completion of the Kejetia redevelopment market project within two years, and his ability to alleviate the hardships the good people of Ghana are experiencing under the administration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In contrast, he criticized the current government for abandoning the Central Market phase 2 project, attributing the stagnation to poor leadership.
“John Dramani Mahama used two years to complete the Kejetia redevelopment market project. However, Nana Addo’s government has failed to complete the Central Market Phase 2 project,” Agyekum stated. “As we speak, the Phase 2 project has been abandoned due to bad leadership.”
However, he assured the constituency, especially the traders, that John Dramani Mahama is well-prepared to address the business hardships they face under the current administration. He also expressed his commitment to enhancing the image and development of the Subin Constituency should he be elected to parliament, urging the constituents to support him with their votes on December 7, 2024.
