Fear and panic has hit the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Abuakwa North Constituency due to mysterious deaths of delegates following the party’s parliamentary primaries in January.

According to sources, the deaths are considered to be the outcome of the use of juju by a candidate during the contest as a strategy to compel delegates who received his money to vote for him.

This primitive and unthinkable action is creating tension within the constituency, with four delegates having died within four months after the primaries.

It is alleged that Palgrave Boakye Danquah, government spokesperson on security and governance, subjected delegates he invited for friendly discussions on the day of voting to swear an oath after giving them money.

To make matters worse, they were emotionally tortured to sit on a black stool and swear with an egg to vote for Palgrave Boakye Danquah or face the wrath of the gods.

Palgrave Boakye Danquah’s emotional torture of delegates has received condemnation from citizens, who have asked him to apologize to the traditional authorities and pacify the gods to avert any misfortunes.

However, just a month after the primaries, a delegate’s death was announced.

The first victim, perceived to have died as a result of the use of an egg to swear an oath was Emmanuel Obiri, a polling station chairman from Sokodejuaso.

He was followed by Kidi of New Tafo R/C polling station, then Mad Mariama of Dal-Salam electoral area, and just yesterday, Yaw Okai, another polling station executive from Anyinasin, also passed away.

Stakeholders are asking traditional authorities to summon Palgrave Boakye Danquah and all involved in this behavior to perform the necessary rituals to avert the unexplained pattern of deaths.

There is a general belief that anyone who collected the money and swore the oath but failed to vote for Palgrave Boakye Danquah will be visited by the gods.

NPP delegates and supporters in Abuakwa North are living in fear because they claim one polling station executive dies every month.

The source hints that over 350 delegates took the oath and collected GH¢5,000 but only 76 people voted for the man.

Delegates who were about to go to the voting center to cast their votes were called to Mr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah’s house for the money and subsequently forced to swear.

The exact number of delegates who fell victim to the juju tactic is unknown but it is believed that over 350 delegates visited the house but only 76 voted for Palgrave Boakye-Danquah.

202 voted for Gifty Twum-Ampofo (the incumbent but lost to Nana Ampaw Addo-Frempong (Buffalo) who polled 222, Nana Kwame Mamfe – 4, and Kofi Obeng-Mensah – 4.
