Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has advised his party’s presidential candidate, H.E John Dramani Mahama, to be cautious about engaging in a debate with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking on Metro TV’s political talk show “Good Afternoon Ghana,” Chairman Ampofo called out the vice president, Dr. Bawumia, accusing him of being untrustworthy and labeling him a “liar.” He emphasized that the NPP’s presidential candidate, has repeatedly demonstrated dishonesty over the years.

“Dr. Bawumia has shown on numerous occasions that he cannot be trusted, and engaging him in a debate would serve no purpose for the former president and the flagbearer of the NDC. I think President Mahama should stay focused on presenting his policies and vision to the people of Ghana, rather than wasting time debating someone who has consistently lied. This is my personal opinion.”

Hon. Ofosu Ampofo also argued that Mahama has a proven track record of integrity and reliability, standing in stark contrast to the current Vice President.

“President Mahama is a trustworthy politician who has always stood by his word,” he continued. “During his tenure as president, he demonstrated honesty and dedication to the people of Ghana. The same cannot be said about the current Vice President.”

As the December general elections approach, many Ghanaians are looking forward to a possible face to face debate between the two leading candidates in the upcoming presidential elections in December this year.

Touching on social intervention programs, Chairman Ofosu Ampofo indicated that the NDC’s record stands tall, considering the many social programs his party has introduced over the years in areas such as housing, healthcare, and education.
