As part of measures to ensure a healthy life, AD-Viesta Clinic have been officially Commissioned to take care of the health needs of people leaving in Alogboshie, Achimota in the Okaikwei North Municipality in Accra.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Okaikwei North, Hon. Boye Laryea in his address as the Guest Speaker, commended the Chief Executive Officer of the AD-Viesta Clinic, Mr. Emmanuel Dapaah for the bold decision taken to establish the magnificent Clinic in this Municipality.

The Clinic establishment according to Hon. Laryea, has comes at a time when the medical needs of people in the municipality is increasing by the day, making it necessary for private individuals to assist by way of creating alternatives to ease the pressure on government hospitals in the Okaikwei North Municipality.

“As you may be aware, the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his able Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia recently announced a relief package for Persons suffering from kidney diseases, aged below 18 and those above 60 to receive all eight dialysis sessions per month for free”.

He pointed out that, the objective of the clinic project as envisioned by President Akufo-Addo is to ensure that Ghanaians in every District and Region in the country, have access to quality healthcare services.

“It will further be a fulfillment of the government’s policy of a hospital in each district and region and improve the geographical coverage of healthcare delivery in the country, as well as offer improved access to healthcare for all Ghanaians”.

The MCE further disclosed that, latest figures from the Ghana AIDS Commission indicates that, an estimated 50 people are infected with HIV every day with the majority of the new infections being persons between 15 and 49 years old, being the economically active population.

“The data announced during the release of the 2023 national and sub-national HIV and AIDS estimates and projections also showed that a total of 334,095 people are living with HIV/AIDS in the country, 17,550 of the number being children below 15 years.

According to the data, Ghana recorded 17,774 new HIV infections, with 1,698 being children below 15 years and 16,076 representing adults above 15 years”.

He said such health developments put much responsibility on the clinic to priotise the education and the sensitization of the people in the area against the further spread of the disease including TB, Cholera, Malaria and typhoid.

Hon. Boye Laryea therefore, urged management and staff of Ad-Viesta Clinic to partner the Assembly in the desire to reduce the spread of infectious diseases in the Municipality and let hygiene and human-centered service be their hallmark.

The Chief Executive Officer of the AD-Viesta Clinic revealed that, he was motivated to establish the clinic in the community because, there is only one government hospital in the Municipality being the Achimota government hospital with pressure on the facility.

He averred that based on the hospital pressure, together with the wife Dr. Mrs Afua Dapaah decided to come up with the clinic to support government’s effort and to also help combat malaria which is the common and highest disease in the area.

Alogboshie community he mentioned is over populated hence, the hygiene challenges with its associate diseases such as typhoid, malaria and other related disease.

Mr. Emmanuel Dapaah stated that, Malaria is more dangerous than COVID-19 saying, statistics available indicated that malaria killed more children and the elderly than COVID in the country.
He said based on the dangers associated with malaria, Management of AD-Viesta Clinic has advanced to educate the community on how they can stay in a hygienic environment with potable water in other to reduce the high rate of malaria in the community and the Municipality in general.

“For the economy to grow, you can’t do away with the health. Health is most important because if the people are not in good health condition, they cannot do anything. All these we take into consideration as part of our contribution to the nation development that, we will establish the clinic”.

The clinic he hinted has modern facilities to give quality health care to the people with an affordable price.

He assured to partner government so that the clinic can be on the national health insurance scheme adding that, majority of people in the community are poor and is optimistic that, with the health insurance, their health needs can be catered for.

Among the services to be provided at AD-Viesta Clinic comprises, General Consultation, in-Patient & Out Patient, Laboratory Services, Radiology Services, Maternal & Child Health, Family Health and Pharmacy.
The Specialist Clinic include: Eye Clinic, STI Clinic, Healthy Lifestyle Clinic, Dermatologist Clinic.
