Arrest and prosecute Dr Kingsley Nyarko for electoral misconduct-Francis Akakpo Elikplim

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication director for Ahafo Ano North, Mr Francis Akakpo Elikplim has urged the Ghana police service to apprehend and prosecute Kingsley Nyarko member of parliament for kwadaso for alleged bribery of EC officials during the Ejisu by-election.

A viral video circulating online which chanced on Dr. Kingsley Nyarko placing a white envelope on a table in front of Electoral Commission (EC) officials during the Ejisu by-election.

The footage which has fueled accusations of monetary inducement in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to which Dr. Nyarko Is aligned to was described as undemocratic.

Meanwhile ,Dr. Nyarko’s has denied of engaging in any electoral misconduct.

In an interview with this portal, Mr Elikplim indicated that the MP’s actions constitute illegal behavior and called for his immediate arrest and prosecution.

He reiterated the severity of the situation, saying “Thank God one camera captured the MP giving a fat envelope to officials. It’s a crime and he must face the vigorous of the law.”

He lamented over the lack of visible action from the Ghana Police Service regarding this matter and urged Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dampare to intervene promptly.

He criticized the Electoral Commission’s handling of the by-election, alleging that the employment of known NPP members as officials favored the NPP.

He claimed that EC officials were brought in from Kumawu which is a known NPP stronghold, to oversee the process in Ejisu.

 

The matter has been formally referred to the police by the Electoral Commission, awaiting further investigation and legal action.
