The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Deputy Director for Welfare, Mr. William Atamudzi has stated that, the idea of the NDC Presidential Candidate former President John Dramani Mahama to seperate youth from sports by creating Youth Development Ministry is a clear indication of his commitment Ghanaian youth.
“I’m so so so happy with His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama decision to make Youth related issues key in his administration.
The growth and future of every institution hinges on the youth and can not be overlook. “Churches that are youth centered is growing their base while those who did not focus much on the youth are paying dearly with a dwindling membership and old congregationHe stressed that any political party thinking beyond wining political power must develop the youth of the country regardless of which political party you belongs to. As far as you falls within that bracket and you have vision and you have something to contribute to the country”.
It would be recalled that, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate and former President, John Dramani Mahama made his intention to create Youth Development Ministry to support his 24 Hour Economy when wining the 2024 general elections, to tackle youth unemployment in Ghana.
Mr. John Mahama made this known during the unveiling of National Youth Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign secretariat at Dzorwulu in Accra near Fiesta Royal Hotel.
The vision of President Mahama to create the Youth Development Ministry, is to focus on the mainstreaming youth interest in all sectors of the economy and most importantly, by concentrating on rolling out strategies to create jobs for young people in the country.
The Ministry is also to support the 24 hour economy and work with industries and businesses by encouraging them to sign on to the initiative so that, they can employ more young people as they are giving tax incentives to be able to lower their production cost and employ more people.
The Youth in the country Mr. Atamudzi mentioned, constitute over 60% of the country’s population and therefore, setting the youth secretariat to champion the cause of the youth is a laudable initiative.
He noted that, with the establishment of the Youth Centre, it is going to help the party win the 2024 general elections easily whilst, it becomes an avenue to support youth in the country.
Mr. William Atamudzi was optimistic that, the Youth secretariat is going to give the youth an opportunity to operate.
According to him, you cannot do away with the experience of the old people and only concentrate on the youth but rather, there is going to be a blend of the two so that the Youth can also learn from the old.
He charged the youth that if they indeed want the betterment for themselves and stop going outside the country to search for greener pastures, then they should come and join the NDC. “This is where the light is, and this is where development also is”.
