SPECIAL AWARD IN HONOUR OF KENTEMAN NII-LARYEA SOWAH

 

You are a symbol of HUMILITY and HARDWORK and possesses the SPIRIT of SACRIFICE, having served in your cepecity as a FOUNDING MEMBER and first INTERNA SECRETARY of the Private Newspeper Publishers Assaciation of Ghana (PRINPAG ) since July 1991. In January 2000, you were appointed a full-time Executive Secretary of PRINPAG and has since held aloft the PRINPAG brand, devoting your ertire life career to serve and steer the Association till date. You have served the Association with humility under all previous Presidents and Executives and serve under the current 11th National Executive Committee.

You have’ve chalked so many victories for the Private Press in Ghana and the Media in general, the most historic being a member of the PRINPAG Team together with the Ghana Journalists Asanciation (GJA) and the West Africa Journaiists Association (WAJA) to present a petition to Parliament that eventually resulted in the historic expunge of the CRIMINAL LIBEL LAW from 2001 under the potitical leadership of former President John Agyekum Kufuor. Again, you were one of the pioneers who held the first forum at the British Council Hall in April 1998 to start the advocacy work on the “Right to Access to information” sporscred by PANOS. A fight that took over 21 years to yield results that eventually led to the passege of the “RIGHT to INFORMATION Law’ in May 2019.

You proudly represented PRINPAG on Ghana’s Media Regulatory Authority, the National Media Commission (NMC). Your Media advocacy works were not only limited to Ghana. You were a founding member of the Africa Medias Initiative (AMI), a Continental Media Owners Advocacy Group that organizes Media Owners and Media Professionals annually on the continent. Beyond that you were also active at the global level representing PRINPAG as a member of the Committees of Directors and Board member of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) since 2002 having travelled worldwide to virtually all continents. Indeed, You are an embodiment of a true Patriot and internationalist of high repute.

On behall of all past Presidents and Execitives of PRINPAG, as well as the current President and Executives, and indeed af Publishers and Owners of the Private Print and Online Media Portals in Chana, PRINPAG confers on you KENTEMAN NN-LARYEA SOWAH this SPECIAL AWARD.
