In a recent press statement issued by Nana Otu Darko, Convener of Team Saglemi Not For Sale, has announced their collaboration with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in their upcoming demonstration, aptly named the “Addison Must Go” protest.
He stated that the purpose of this collaboration is to amplify their joint efforts in denouncing what they described as the inept leadership of the Bank of Ghana (BOG), Dr. Addison and his team.
The convener mentioned the Team Saglemi’s concern over the significant loss of over GHS 60 billion attributed to corruption, lawlessness, and what they termed as inept leadership under Dr. Addison’s administration.
According to him, the group firmly aligns with the NDC’s call for Dr. Addison’s resignation, along with that of his team of directors, holding them accountable for the financial setback the country has suffered.
The press release goes on to assert that Dr. Addison and his team should not only step down but also face legal consequences for their alleged violations of the Financial Management Act, particularly the breach of the 5% threshold for money printing without parliamentary approval.
He claimed that certain transactions were executed without proper parliamentary approval, warranting legal action.
Furthermore, he underscored that his group (Team Saglemi) demanded an official apology from the Bank of Ghana to the Ghanaian people for what they labelled as the infamous collapse of indigenous banks and other financial institutions.
The Team Saglemi, an advocacy group known for its opposition for the sale of Saglemi housing project, contended that the Bank of Ghana’s actions have led to even more substantial losses than those incurred by the entities they accused of mismanagement.
As the convener of Team Saglemi Not For Sale, Nana Otu Darko declared unwavering solidarity with the upcoming patriotic struggle against corruption and greed.
He portrayed their involvement in the demonstration as a firm stance against corruption and an expression of their dedication to a more transparent and accountable governance system.
