As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Gokals-laborex limited, leaders in the import, distribution and services for pharmaceuticals, with the goal of delivering high quality products at affordable prices, has donated 200 white canes to the Ghana Blind Union for further distribution to members at the cost of 200 GHS25,000.00.
The donation was in response to an appeal made by GBU, seeking for white canes to enhance their movement.
Gokals-laborex limited is a subsidiary of the CFAO group under the CFAO Healthcare division.
The Human Resource Manager of Gokals-laborex limited, Ms. Eno Odame Darkwa who did the presentation on behalf of the Managing Director (MD), charged the union to put the items to good use and assured if the company’s continue support in the coming years.
In an interview, the the Managing Director (MD) of Gokals Laborex Limited, Mr. Mahesh Gokaldas said, the relationship between the GBU and the company dated back and have supported them in so many ways.
“So when we heard that the union is appealing for the ‘white cane,” we quickly mobilized to support them. As a company, we need to support organizations by ensuring that their needs are taken care of, and this has been on our agenda for some time now. Eighteen months ago, we refurbished the Kaneshie Cluster of Schools’ Computer Laboratory”.
He revealed that, Gokals laborex over the years has given so much to society and did it quietly because, they did not give to expect but rather, give to support.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Executive Director of GBU, the President of the Greater Accra Region, Mr. George Abelse expressed their appreciations to the Managing Director of Gokals Laborex Limited and the entire management team, for their kind gesture adding that, the donation was timely as many of their members cannot move freely and independently because they cannot afford the white cane.
According to Mr. Abelse, the 200 white canes which now cost 100 Ghana cedis, would help them move independently without any assistance and calls on other cooperate Ghana to emulate Gokals-laborex and come to their aid.
He asked for God’s blessings for Gokals Laborex and it’s subsidiaries for remembering the needy in a time the economic situation of the country is critical.
