Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Leader and founder of Movement for Change (M4C), has without equivocation made a forward-looking policy commitment that, road infrastructure would not be financed from mainstream government budgetary resources under his tenure of office,as president of the republic of Ghana. He further assentuates this assertion on the basis of non sustainability and wanton pressure on already burdened government resources.
Government resources he underscores, will only be restricted to financing toll-operated roads coupled with town roads carefully constructed within certain key plied locations.
The presidential aspirant emphasised that, expansion of major road networks leading to greater avenues of industrial markets will not only be his foremost priority, pragmatic considerable initiatives will expressly be introduced to resource private sector in order to boost their efficiency financially, putting them in a better position to fund major road networks. He opines.
Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen proferred this initiative during his tour to the Western Region where he had a fruitful interactions with the media.
Government he mentioned, does not need to borrow money to fund road projects as observed here the years, there is a lot of money floating around the world and that when incentives are provided, it is going to draw private capital both local and foreign into the country.
The astute presidential aspirant lamented that, all other public infrastructure would be a public-private investment saying, some of the most developed airports and sea ports are financed by the private sector. “It is about putting the private sector in the lead and not the government that is my formula”.
With regards to galamsey menaces, Mr. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen vehemently reveals the essence of recognizing the canker as unlawful cum disastrous having the tendency to rip of Ghana’s cocoa, water bodies and livestock’s. This he termed as unlawful on the basis of culprits inability to secure legitimate concessions from the Minerals Commission. He again discloses culprits do not also have regulatory licenses from EPA.
“Alan cash” as popularly known noted that, there is very little that can be done about galamsey except for government to recognize that one cannot wash away the involvement of small scale mining companies and individuals in the industry. “When you go to most of the mining sectors, agriculture is dominant. For them they consider mining as their own vocation. So, government has to find a business model, a new business model to create a legitimate framework for our young people to be able to undertake these mining activities, but in a legitimate way and then, using the right technical solutions”.he reveals.
He objectively assures youth who have knacks to mine in mining communities his commitment and constant support. He commits to mobilizing these youth,to create licensed private entity, where they will be taking through modern means of mining, providing same with contemporary machinery for mining without compromising on safety and development.
“The future of this country belongs to the youth so there’s is no way in denying them -the key is to make sure that we organize them into cooperate entities and even corporative, properly established companies where those who are doing galamsey now become owners, becoming shareholders of these new mining companies that will start emerging”.
Government he indicated, will provide finance ,technological equipment, and everything needed once they are given the mining concessions and environmental permit.
He quickly added that, those who are mining in the water bodies and forest reserves are forbidden but said, there are so many other sites that can be explored for the purposes of putting the young boys into proper companies for them to own their own companies and sell whatever they mine through the proper channel which would be good for the country and good for them as well.
