The Founder and Leader of Ghana Union Movement (GUM), Rev. Christian K. Andrews has advised President Akuffo Addo not to send any Ghanaian Military troops to Niger. Please Mr. president, DZ! WO FIE ASEM”
This came to light at a press conference organized to disclose the stand of GUM and to also cautioned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and the ECOWAS to reconsider their plan for sending troops to Niger.
“Ghana is not ready to fight a neighboring country. Africa needs to unite but not to fight themselves no Matter what”.
He noted that, any military action would rather compound the socio economic and security challenges confronting Ghana and called on ECOWAS to use diplomatic means to solve the problem.
The people of Niger he indicated, has not invited President Akuffo Addo to come and save them neither they are fighting. “There are security issues at the Northern part of the country that need more troops to ensure peace as well as the need to protect Ghana’s borders against illegal immigrants and presumed terrorists.
Nigeria, Rev. Christian K. Andrews mentioned equally is facing home challenges of Buko Haram that need their troops than to send them to Niger to go and die and also, kill the innocent inhabitants.
“If ECOWAS has any better decision to take, they must meet on how to eradicate corruption and the excruciating hardships their poor and greedy leadership have brought into the citizenry I especially the youth in the continent so that they cannot be enticed and used for illegal activities like Coup Detat”.
He asked, “Why do you want to create war? If there can be any help for Niger, let it be by dialogue but not by the Gun or Force?.
Rev. Christian Andrews affirmed that, GUM shall never hesitate to embark on serious nationwide demonstration against the troops to Niger decision should President Akufo Addo support that.
