In a tragic turn of events, the former Environment and Science Minister of Ghana, Madam Sherry Ayittey, passed away this morning in the United States after a short illness. The news of her untimely demise has sent shockwaves across the nation, leaving many in mourning.
Madam Sherry Ayittey, a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics, served as the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture and Minister for Health during The late Mills and John Mahama’s administration. Throughout her tenure, she was lauded for her dedication and tireless efforts in promoting sustainable development and environmental conservation in the country.
Details surrounding her death is not out per the family’s release requesting privacy during this difficult time. Colleagues and friends remember her as a passionate and committed public servant who worked diligently to address environmental challenges and foster a culture of scientific innovation in Ghana.
Upon hearing the news of her death , the managing editor of the Daily Democrat newspaper, Mr. Emmanuel Opare Djan who worked with her expressed his grief and condolences, describing Madam Sherry Ayittey as a visionary leader who made significant contributions to the nation’s development.
