The Founder of “My Future Your Future” and Board Chairman of Mineral Income Investment Fund (MIIF), Professor Douglas Boateng has personally, donated 1000 books on Strategic Sourcing (700) and the Supply Chain Management (300), to the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in support of the country’s industrialization agenda towards achieving Ghana Beyond Aid.

Professor Boateng, who is a social entrepreneur and uses his own resources to support the industrial growth agenda, believes in empowering the youth and see education as the key to long term development.

In an interview, Prof. Douglas Boateng made it known that, the only way the country can add value to its resources, is through the Supply Chain Management and Strategic Sources explaining that, whatsoever is bought as a country, has an impact on the industrialization agenda. “There are certain things that we should not be importing”.

He pointed out that, his Foundation “My Future, Your Future”, has targeted University of Mines and Technology because, he believe that the University have a vision and as an Organization, if they are able to industrialized the Mining Supply Chain, more jobs can be created for the youth and also, be able to get enough income for generation who would come and solve the industrial and developmental challenges.

UMaT Prof. Boateng noted, can easily become the MIT in the Sub-region saying, he see education as a business and UMaT is well position to become a very good institution that can support the mining industry in the sub-region.

“Ghana is far ahead and thanks to the previous leaders that always helped to establish the University of Mines and Technology. We need to support such an institution. When you go outside the country, industries support their various institutions and is about time Ghana will do that”.

Mining he mentioned, is huge and needed educational institution such as UMaT to develop the human capital to support it. “The more value we add to our raw materials, the more jobs we can create for the youth and also get income to support the country’s developmental agenda”.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor for University of Mines and Technology, Pro. Richard K. Amankwah who received the book donation on behalf of the University, expressed appreciations to Prof. Douglas Boateng for his individual support.

He averred that, every First Year student on Transport and logistics programme would be given a coppy of the book.

Prof. Amankwah hinted that, as to what the minirals industry can do, he believes that UMaT has come very far and have trained a lot of people who can be found where that mining activities are going on across the globe.

“For now we are moving to the next level where we are planning artificial intelligence robotics. In mining, we are hoping that we will up our games in AI and artificial robotics so that students can now move more into AI robotics in mining. In addition to that, we are also trying to add some soft heels to the purely engineering discipline that we want. This is where Prof. Boateng comes in and what are we buying and how are we buying it”.

The Miniral industry he hinted, purchases a lot of things more done any industry in Ghana and called for more local content in other to own about 4o% of the facility and the value in the minerals saying, it is going to be a game changer for everybody.
